Tribeca Lighting Provides Lighting Gear, Installation, and Programming for XL Nightclub at Out NY

Kyle Chepulis, president of Tribeca Lighting, announced the completion of the renovation for the new XL Nightclub in the Out New York, the first urban resort in New York for a gay and gay-friendly clientele. The project involved Tribeca Lighting working with Brian Orter Lighting Design on the design and installation of the lighting equipment, effects, control, dimming, cabling, and programming for the dance floor and stage areas. The Out New York is located at 510 West 42nd Street.

Producers John Blair and Beto Sutter originally choose Tribeca Lighting in 2009 to install a full lighting system for the club's stage. Sutter, in an interview with Next Magazine, shared: "Beyond just the gay thing, there are a lot of really great cabaret rooms in New York, but none of them with the stage structure and lighting to do real stage shows. And that's the twist we put in on it." Blair added, "We built it as if it were a cabaret and a nightclub too, not just a nightclub [that is also] a cabaret." Sutter continued, "The shows at XL really became a staple of XL...so this [design] met both of those qualifications."

Eva Pinney, vice president of operations of Tribeca Lighting Inc., worked closely with the designers, clients, contractors, and vendors to pull together this new high-end club in Midtown Manhattan.

Orter and Tribeca Lighting choose equipment by High End, including a DL3F console and F100 fog machines; Martin, including the ManiaSCX, SmartMac, and Atomic 3000; ETC fixtures and dimming (installed and commissioned by Barbizon Electric, New York); Lex Products; American DJ; and Technical Artistry.

Production manager Adam Macks supervised a crew from Tribeca Lighting for installation of the full lighting system. Steve Garner performed the initial programming and trained the club staff on the High End Road Hog. With the installation and programming completed, XL seems well on it's way to becoming another icon in the NY club scene, the company reports.
