Sight and Sound Technologies Chooses StudioLive 315AIs -- First Dante-Enabled Loudspeaker InstallationWhen nonprofit global ministry and Christian resource provider David C. Cook needed a high-quality sound system for its eponymous publishing building in Colorado Springs, Colorado, they called on Sight and Sound Technologies, a local systems integrator specializing in serving churches throughout the USA. Sight and Sound Technologies chief operating officer and co-founder Kris JohnsonDante-equipped mixing console with three PreSonus StudioLive 315AI Active Integration loudspeakers, each installed with the new SL-Dante-SPK option card from PreSonus. This is the world's first installation of an active point-source loudspeaker with Audinate's Dante audio networking available onboard. Built on existing networking protocols and standards, Audinate's Dante technology has been adopted by more than 160 manufacturers, making it a leading digital media network solution. Dante delivers ultra-low latency, tightly synchronized media, and interoperability with straightforward installation and configuration. "This space in the David C. Cook Building is used for many different applications, including business meetings, overseas live video conferencing, and chapel services," noted Johnson. "[Christian record label] Integrity Music, a division of David C. Cook, will also use the space as an artist showcase venue. So we had to get creative in the way we designed the system. We wanted enough power to crank out some of Christian music's top artists, yet be able to simplify and dial back the sound for a staff meeting. The PreSonus StudioLive 315AIs were a perfect fit." Sight and Sound places great emphasis on keeping up with the latest technology -- one of the key elements that sets the firm apart from a lot of other companies, according to Johnson. So it's no surprise that Johnson opted for StudioLive AI loudspeakers, with their built-in networking, onboard processing, wireless remote control, coaxial design, and optional Dante connectivity. "The speakers sound amazing," enthuses Johnson, "and with the Dante card in the mixer and the Dante cards in the speakers, it couldn't have been easier to route the audio. The rear of the speakers is so clean, with just a CAT5 cable and a power cord. And I was amazed at the quality, especially considering the cost of the boxes." Johnson also was very happy with the loudspeakers' SL Room Control wireless control software. "SL Room Control required no instruction," he explains. "It is very intuitive and easy to connect and use." Johnson's bottom line? "Overall we are very happy with the results. I'm looking forward to what PreSonus and Audinate have in store for the future."
