Museum and Event Technology at Stage|Set|Scenery - Exhibition Designers Can Learn from Theatre ProfessionalsBe it sophisticated lighting concepts for special exhibits, stage design expertise that enthrals the audience, or elements that actively involve the visitor -- the expectations the public bring to an exhibition are growing all the time, and so are the demands on systems, decoration, and furnishings. How can one ensure that an exhibition is a success? This is an area where curators, gallery owners, and exhibition designers can learn from the wide-ranging experience of theatre professionals. It is also why a special area will be devoted to museum and event technology at this year's Stage|Set|Scenery, the international trade show and conference for theatre, film, and event technology, which will be taking place June 20 - 22, on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Halls 19 - 23 and at the Palais am Funkturm for the second time. According to the project manager Juliane Trempler, "This topic fits in well with the show. The companies exhibiting at our show know how to put creative ideas into practice and many exhibition designers have trained professionally as scenographers. Inviting both sides to the show promises a fascinating exchange of experiences." Be it lighting system products and services, large-scale digital printing, concept design and planning, room and building acoustics, media and communication technology, furnishings or scenography, at StageISetIScenery, trade visitors can take part in guided tours that let them make direct contact with manufacturers and find out about the latest technical solutions directly at the show. One of the key topics will be LED lighting systems. On the subject of lighting and event production, on June 22, Bund der Szenografen will be hosting a symposium on lighting and stage design with Yaron Abulafia. The special "Historical Theatre" display area will feature a model of the Bourla Theatre in Antwerp by Chris van Goethem and an exhibition by Jerôme Maeckelbergh. Companies who have announced their participation in Stage|Set|Scenery include the following: Alfa System, Big Image Systems, ETC - Electronic Theatre Controls, Initiative TheaterMuseum Berlin, IT4Culture, Kunkel Consulting International, Müller-BBM, Nüssli Deutschland, Peter Evans Studios, ShowTex, and Visual Act Scandinavia. For the first time Verband der Ausstellungsgestalter in Deutschland e.V. (verA) will be taking part in Stage|Set|Scenery and will be represented in Hall 22. On June 23, one day after the show, a program of excursions will take place, including to C/O Berlin, an exhibition venue for photography and visual media which displays the works of famous artists and promotes young talent. Chief curator Felix Hoffmann will take visitors on a tour and describe the technology used and, taking the current exhibitions of William Klein and Harf Zimmermann as an example, will highlight the challenges that exhibition designers must confront.
