Joseph Jefferson Award Winners Announced

The winners of the Joseph Jefferson Awards, which honor achievement in Chicago's theatre scene, were announced last night. The winners in the design category are:

Scenic Design (Large Theatre):
Todd Rosenthal, The Matchbox Magic Flute, Goodman Theatre
Arnel Sancianco, The Nacirema Society Requests the Honor of Your Presence at the Celebration of Their First One Hundred Years, Goodman Theatre

Scenic Design (Midsize Theatre):
Grant Sabin, Turret, A Red Orchid Theatre

Sound Design (Large):
Andre Pluess, The Lehman Trilogy, Broadway in Chicago and TimeLine Theatre Company

Sound Design (Midsize):
Jeffrey Levin, Turret, A Red Orchid Theatre

Lighting Designer (Large):
Cat Wilson, A Streetcar Named Desire, Paramount Theatre

Lighting Design (Midsize):
Mike Durst, Turret, A Red Orchid Theatre

Projection Design:
Mike Tutaj, Gods and Monsters, Frame of Reference Productions

Costume Design (Large):
Ana Kuzmanic, The Matchbox Magic Flute, Goodman Theatre

Costume Design (Midsize):
Aly Greaves Amidei, Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble

The winners were fairly evenly spread this year, with four awards each going to Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, at the Mariott Theatre; Turret, at A Red Orchid Theatre; Samuel D. Hunter's Little Bear Ridge Road, at Steppenwolf Theatre Company; and Ain't Misbehavin' at Drury Lane Productions. Three-time winners included Jersey Boys, at Mercury Theatre Chicago; Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' drama Purpose, at Steppenwolf; and A View from the Bridge at Shattered Globe Theatre.
