Philips Entertainment Conducts a Noteworthy Performance at LDI 2014At LDI 2014, Philips Entertainment enjoyed one of its most noteworthy trade shows during a full week which included "The Symphony of Light," VL4000 Spot technical training, NEO lighting control console training, and the well-celebrated Philips Strand Lighting centennial toast and champagne reception. Along with all of the events which took place, Philips Entertainment also enjoyed the successful LDI product debuts of the Philips Vari-Lite VL4000 Spot, Showline SL NITRO 510C and SL PAR 155 ZOOM luminaires, plus the Philips Strand Lighting NEO control console and Emergency DMX Bypass Switch. "I could not be more proud of the outstanding Philips Entertainment team who put together a wonderful and well-rounded event," said Julie Smith, general manager of the Americas. "We had an incredibly busy week and through our completely interactive and hands-on booth design we had many guests commenting on how elegant and special the entire show was for Philips Entertainment. After a very busy Friday at LDI 2014, Philips Strand Lighting celebrated its 100th anniversary of lighting innovation with a cocktail reception and champagne toast by industry icon Richard Pilbrow. "It's a notable achievement for any company in our wonderful industry to make 100 years old," said Pilbrow. "Strand has had enormous impact on the entertainment industry around the world. It was people of great ability and dedication to theatre lighting that built the world of Strand, and its Philips Entertainment's renewed commitment to those special people that will ensure another very bright 100 years." Additionally at LDI, Philips Entertainment conducted product and technical trainings for the debuting Philips Strand Lighting NEO lighting control console and Philips Vari-Lite VL4000 Spot luminaire. "As more dealers and lighting operators are exposed to the power and performance of the NEO control console, it's very exciting to watch it take flight in the industry," said product segment manager Bobby Harrell who conducted the NEO pre-show training course. "The LDI training coupled with the hands-on booth displays really helped us continue to build on that excitement with many guests very impressed by the powerful simplicity of NEO." The company says the introduction of the NEO lighting control console marks a new chapter in the evolution of control from Philips Strand Lighting. NEO gives lighting designers and operators the ability to seize light; to grab, move, change color, and motivate the lighting design simply and effectively. The NEO lighting control console is the closest that a designer can get to actually touching the light; encompassing the dreams and aspirations of both professionals and amateurs alike with the inclusion of many timesaving features that allow the user to program faster and more accurately. Now, icons and shutter controls are represented graphically on the display, saving time and presenting meaningful data to the operator. "I always enjoy training sessions at LDI as it gives us an opportunity to have a number of talented technicians from across the world in one room," explained technical trainer Todd Kessler who conducted the day-long VL4000 Spot training. "As many of them have recently taken VL4000 Spots into their inventory, some were getting to use the luminaire for the first time. No matter where they are in familiarity with the light, it's fun to watch as they start to fully understand the vast capabilities of this dynamic new automated luminaire." The PLASA Innovation Award-winning VL4000 Spot luminaire from Philips Vari-Lite includes all the tools needed to create dynamic and useful lighting on any stage as every aspect of the luminaire has been designed with performance in mind. The 1,200W VL4000 Spot boasts 33,000 lumens as well as a quiet Studio mode which outputs 25,000 lumens. Its high resolution optics ensure center-to-edge focusing and an unprecedented contrast ratio while a 5:1 zoom covers an amazing 9- to 47-degrees without sacrificing output or clarity. New Philips Entertainment products also receiving their LDI debut included the Philips Strand Lighting Emergency DMX Bypass Switch, Showline SL NITRO 510C, and Showline SL PAR 155 ZOOM. Philips Strand Lighting's 2014 PLASA Innovation Award-winning Emergency DMX Bypass Switch provides emergency and panic Lighting control solutions for DMX driven house lights and DMX controlled lighting used in emergency and egress situations. Each Bypass unit can handle up to four individual universes of DMX and can also act as a DMX splitter handling "one in / four out" or "two in / two out" routing scenarios with separate triggers for panic situations as well. Each state, panic or emergency, can be set to trigger "snap shot" loads or can be set to drive all loads on each DMX path to 100%, and each state can also be triggered via normally open, normally closed dry contacts, or from a 12VDC signal. The Showline SL NITRO 510C RGB and W LED Strobe follows the success of the original SL NITRO 510 as it provides high output white along with RGB capabilities in the same compact luminaire. Continuous on/strobing abilities, six independent zones, and a unique quick-connect system make the SL NITRO 510C stand out on any stage the company says. The Showline SL PAR 155 ZOOM luminaire is a die-cast aluminum LED Par can that utilizes nine homogenized RGBW LEDs to produce over 3,200 lumens of output. The manual zoom provides a beam angle range from 8- to 40-degrees and the split yoke bracket allows for easy hanging or floor mounting.
