Amos Lee Tours with Bandit Lites

Amos Lee departed for his 2017 summer tour with both his sixth studio album, Spirit, and a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites in tow. The singer-songwriter, known for his hybrid of blues, rock, and folk sound has been bringing his smooth vocals to performances across the country, culminating in his first solo headline tour this fall.

Bandit Lites provided production manager Drew Consalvo and lighting designer Tom Laveuf a package of over 75 luminaires for the tour, making sure to streamline the prep for the daily execution of shows by a single crew member.

GLP X4 Bars were positioned downstage for both band and crowd light, and to serve the primary goal of washing crowd in a safety blue between songs, allowing Amos Lee the opportunity to see the audience.

Downstage Spot Ones colored the band, with GLP X4S fixtures giving more moody angles and looks. Martin by Harman MAC Auras provide both band wash and air looks, with additional floor Spot Ones and GLP X4 Bars.

For a special Red Rocks performance, lighting director Daniel Rehbein used GLP X4 Bars and Spot Ones to light the rocks behind the stage, giving the appearance of a painted backdrop to the famous amphitheater.

"The big thing with this show is that it's very dynamic," said Rehbein. "It's never quite the same, so having a main cue stack for each song is out of the question. I have macros to fire first looks for songs and then macros to modify those looks as needed. The grandMA 2 is the console that really pulls this off well for me."

"As always, it's a pleasure to have the opportunity to work both with Tom on this new endeavor, and Drew, whose professionalism and thoroughness guarantees each project will be a success," said Bandit client representative Shawn Lear.

"The prep for this run was really great," added Rehbein about his experience with Bandit Lites.

"I'm a working LD out here and since I don't have a tech, the prep needed to be very slick so that it all goes up and comes down in a reasonable amount of time."
