Meyer Sound to Focus on Digital Technology and Point Source Loudspeakers at AES 2023 in New York

Meyer Sound comes to New York for the 2023 AES Convention, set for October 25 through 27 at the Javits Convention Center. Meyer Sound will also highlight the company's new generation of point source loudspeakers, including several models that can connect directly to Milan AVB digital networks.

The demo room program will be presented at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm on all three days. Each demo session will feature ULTRA-X40 and ULTRA-X20 compact loudspeakers, and UPQ full-size loudspeakers, all incorporating Meyer Sound's new generation of processing and class D power amplifiers. Low-frequency support will be provided by the new 2100-LFC low-frequency control element. Presentations will conclude with a fully immersive demonstration of the Spacemap Go spatial sound design and mixing tool.

"Our PANTHER line array systems -- which will be shown in a passive display -- have been phenomenally successful," continues Monitto. "But all that notoriety has shifted the spotlight away from our point source loudspeakers. We hope to restore the balance at AES by demonstrating the qualities that have made our versatile point source systems highly regarded best-sellers in both installed and portable applications."

Meyer Sound's ULTRA-X20 family of compact loudspeakers, available in three coverage variants, and the companion USW-112P subwoofer are certified by the Avnu Alliance for direct connection as endpoints in Milan AVB networks.

Meyer Sound team members also will be participating in the AES education program. Director of system optimization Bob McCarthy and senior technical support specialist Josh Dorn-Fehrmann will present "Case Studies: Sound Reinforcement for Metallica" at 11:30am in room 1E08. Digital products solutions architect Richard Bugg will join the panel for "The New Network Reality in Live Events," presented by the Avnu Alliance, on October 27 at 4:30pm in room 1E11.

The new NADIA networked digital audio platform, employing AVB networking, will also be featured as part of the demos. NADIA is an integrated, network-based digital processing and distribution platform employing MILAN-compatible AVB networking. The NADIA-CP core processor is capable of routing up to 224 inputs to 128 outputs with all processing at 96 kHz/64-bit floating point resolution, the company says. The companion NADIA-AI12 input module and NADIA-AO16 output modules connect to NADIA-CP via the network and offer, respectively, 12 analog inputs with microphone preamps and 16 analog outputs. NADIA is designed principally for use in Constellation acoustic systems, but ample processing power also allows for parallel use with dynamic spatial sound applications, as will be demonstrated at AES.

Early versions of the NADIA platform are currently at work in Constellation acoustic systems in New York City and San Diego. All future Constellation designs will be specified with the NADIA platform.
