Vince Herbert, Lightlock Inventor, to Speak about the Product in New York Thanks to the residency of the Royal Shakespeare Company in New York's Park Avenue Armory this summer, you can meet the man behind the RSC Lightlock and see how he uses this innovation to light Shakespeare's works. Vince Herbert, head of the lighting department for the RSC, will be on hand to demonstrate the RSC Lightlock's technology, discuss its evolution, and explain its use in the lighting system installed for the Company's residency in New York. The event will be held on Tuesday, August 2 in the Wade Thompson Drill Hall of the Park Avenue Armory beginning at 2PM. The event is free and open to the first 50 registrants. In addition to his responsibilities as the head of the RSC's lighting department, and his work in developing the award-winning technology of the Lightlock, Herbert has also overseen the reconstruction of the company's main theatre and home at Stratford-upon-Avon. The unique lighting needs of this reinvention of one of the world's best known theatres were the inspiration for the RSC Lightlock. In addition to learning more about the background of Lightlock, attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss the design process of the performance space at Stratford-upon-Avon and about the challenges in shipping a theatre across an ocean and assembling it in New York City. The RSC Lightlock, winner of numerous awards since its introduction in 2009, is the only motion stabilizing device for moving head lighting fixtures on the market today. Allowing fixtures to be installed with a minimum of rigging equipment, removing the need for battens or trusses in the system, its self-sensing stabilization allows designers a never -before imagined range of options. The RSC Lightlock can also be used with pantographs and motorized battens without worry over the inherent movement of the light damaging the systems. Total Structures is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of the RSC Lightlock in North and South America and the Caribbean Basin.
