Andrea Bocelli and Powersoft: The Pure Essence of Italian SoundThe internationally acclaimed tenor Andrea Bocelli performed three intense and exciting shows in his recent Scandinavian tour. Bocelli presented a varied repertoire that includes Italian opera arias and his most loved songs. Widely regarded as the most popular Italian tenor in the world, with more than 70 million albums sold, his live concerts are attended by a passionate audience of classic music lovers. "Andrea's Scandinavian tour was marked by close dates: June 14 at Herning Jyske Bank Boxen Arena, Denmark; June 16 at Malmo Arena, Sweden; and June 17 at Halden Fredriksten Festning, Norway. We had to design a unique sound set-up with powerful and compact racks to meet the high expectations of a very competent audience," says Andrea Taglia, Bocelli's sound system designer. "I asked the Swedish rental Starlight/United Audio to provide an impressive L-Acoustics sound system powered by Powersoft K Series amplifiers." Taglia ran all three shows with orchestra mixer Francesco La Camera, system engineers Nicola Marozzi and Stefano Guidoni, and the professional crew of Starlight headed by Oskar Meijer. Powersoft lightweight amplifiers make equipment assembly and disassembly operations easier and significantly contributed to the excellent sound quality performance. K amplifiers' "green" technology and power consumption efficiency presented an environmental friendly approach that is strongly encouraged in Scandinavian countries. "Using Powersoft systems has dramatically affected the sound quality and intelligibility of the venue," continues Taglia. "Two two-channel K10 DSP+AESOP amps, each generating two by 6000W into 2ohms, drove six L-Acoustics V-Dosc! Plenty of headroom suitable for a diverse setlist beginning with a 'Cavalleria Rusticana' aria and ending with Bocelli's hits 'Canto della Luna' and 'Con te partirĂ².'" The sound system radiated the magnificence of a 70-musician orchestra, a 60-singer choir, and two guests on stage -- the Trinidad-American soul singer Heather Headley and the young Cuban soprano Maria Aleida. "Andrea has never sang as well as this time the aria from Donizzetti's Lucia di Lammermoor," posted a Danish fan on the official tenor web forum. A standing ovation and four encores at the end of the concert for the terrific live show of pure bel canto.
