Fireman's Fund Insurance Company Sponsors Inaugural Event Safety Summit for Live Event Production

Fireman's Fund Insurance Company announces its sponsorship of the first Event Safety Summit put on by the Event Safety Alliance (ESA) December 2 - 4 at Tait Towers in Lititz, Pennsylvania. The three-day symposium and hands-on workshop is designed to increase awareness of the safety risks at events and educate the attendees on effective ways to address these risks.

The motto of ESA -- "Life Safety First," is critical to producing successful events across the nation and globally. Leaders in the industry such as author and attorney John Barylick will engage and educate the attendees in sessions and workshops tailored specifically to the live event industry.

Barylick is the author of Killer Show, a gripping and meticulously-researched account of the conditions and decisions that led to the 2003 Station Nightclub Fire in Rhode Island. Barylick will explain the many missteps that resulted in the fourth-deadliest club fire in US history, which claimed 100 lives and injured hundreds more.

Classroom instruction will be led by subject matter experts who will engage participants in discussions tailored specifically to the live event industry including, weather monitoring and legal issues.

"As a leading insurance carrier for live entertainment, we believe strongly in the ESA mission," said Lauren Bailey, vice president, entertainment division at Fireman's Fund. "This training is one step to ensure that all those involved in event production have the best education and tools available to make every event safe."

The ESA was founded in January 2012 by entertainment industry and safety experts with a mission to create a common safety protocol for live events in the United States. Their long-term goal is to promote safer events through training and education.

"Everyone involved in live event production has a legal and moral obligation to make safety their first priority," said Jim Digby, founding member and president, Event Safety Alliance. "This sponsorship from Fireman's Fund will help us do just that at the inaugural Event Safety Summit."

In conjunction with the summit, Fireman's Fund and Scott Carroll of Take1 Insurance will be awarding a grant of $25,000 to the Lititz, Pennsylvania fire department for the purchase of safety equipment that is greatly needed to support safe communities.
