Audio Systems Del Norte takes Delivery of E15's and Hits the Road in Mexico

Long-time Adamson rental company Audio Systems Del Norte has expanded their existing Adamson inventory of Y-Axis, SpekTrix, T21 subs, and M series with a 32-box E15 rig. Audio Systems has been providing high caliber tours in Mexico for more than 20 years and has a staff of 60 full-time employees. In addition to their audio department, this full-service company has a staging, trussing, video, and lighting departments, and offers installation consultancy and services. The system was sold by Showco, Adamson's exclusive distributor for Mexico.

Adamson's application engineer, Ewan McDonald traveled to Audio Systems the week before their first tour on the E15's, for a two-day intensive training course covering all aspects of the new E15 system. Topics included 3D simulation in Adamson's new Blueprint AV software suite, design principles of the E15, preset management, and alignment. McDonald explains: "All the system engineers had hands on training rigging the system to ensure the array was flown safely and quickly and needless to say, all were extremely impressed with the new Autolock rigging system." On the last afternoon of training, McDonald took the crew through system alignment and pattern control techniques.

Audio Systems took delivery of their first Adamson system in 2001 for a Juan Gabriel show in Arena Monterrey. This time around the Energia system was specified by the Mexican tour of Dos Pájaros Contraatacan (Two Counter Attacking Birds) which began in Puebla on October 15, and ended in Aguascalientes on November 1. This Latin, rock, and trova band stopped in various types of venues along the tour; the smallest being an indoor auditorium for 5,000 people, the largest, a 20,000-person outdoor amphitheater in Chihuahua.

The system details varied from show to show, the largest being the Chihuahua show which featured additional delay PA made up of Adamson Y10's. The mains during all stops were Adamson E15's flown with SpekTrix as front fills, Y10's as side fills, flown and stacked T21's for sub extension, and M15 monitors on the stage. All venue designs were mapped out using the Bluprint AV suite.

The tour's system tech Jorge Mortis Sánchez Montes comments: "It was our first time using the Adamson Energia system, and on the first tour dates we were on installed house systems. On the dates with the Energia system, we really loved it. The E15 is very fast to setup and it sounds very good. In fact, I feel that it has better throw, higher SPL, and delivers smoother coverage than other systems. It really grabs you. It is my favorite of the newly launched systems."

Front-of-house engineer Juan Gonzales, who has been mixing the band for four years, commented that his average SPL at the front-of-house position is kept at 105dB and that their recent PA of choice when touring in Europe has been a popular European brand. "This is our first time out with the E15, and I know already that the Energia System is pretty much superior, and I'm new to the system. Sincerely, I'm very happy. It's a very linear PA system and I like it more than the aging Y18. The truth is, I like Adamson's project Energia very much, and it's in my top choices for a PA." Gonzales mixed the tour on his favorite console the Didigdesign D-Show.

All tour dates were supported by Showco.
