Chauvet Hosts Academy of Production Technology Class Chauvet is a sponsor of Academy of Production Technology's three-day seminars, dedicated to the advancement of education and safety in the live event production industry. Led by Richard Cadena, a 24-year veteran of the entertainment lighting industry with a background in electronics and electrical engineering, the classes travel the country to capture a wide-ranging audience. November's class will be held at Chauvet headquarters in Sunrise, Florida. The class covers theory and practices of entertainment technology for the working electrician and technician. Attendees will learn essential training in safety, codes and regulations, control systems, and basic electricity to advanced power distribution. The course work also counts towards renewal credits for ETCP-certified Electricians. "We are pleased to open the doors to our facility for an educational endeavor," said Berenice Chauvet, vice president of Chauvet. "Especially one with such a focus on safety as it relates to electrical components and best practices used within our industry. We are also honored to host Richard Cadena, an esteemed member of our community." Chauvet COLORado static wash lights and Legend moving heads will be used during the seminar for demonstration purposes. For the last five years, Cadena has taught these types of seminars. He is also the lighting technical editor for Lighting & Sound America, Lighting & Sound International and Protocol and assistant technical standards manager for PLASA. In addition, Cadena is the author of several books for the production professional, including Electricity for the Entertainment Electrician & Technician, Automated Lighting: The Art and Science of Moving Light, Lighting Design for Modern Houses of Worship, and Focus on Lighting Technology.
