Black and White at d&b audiotechnik's Booth at Prolight + Sound The spinning continues for d&b with its monochrome black-on-black and white-on-white exhibition stand at this year's Prolight + Sound show. Joining the traditional mobile series of products known as the Black range was the newly introduced White range of integration products, each in their color-coordinated areas of the d&b stand. The white-on-white area displayed for the first time in Frankfurt the 16 new products from the 2white range which are designed for visual, physical, acoustical, and electrical integration into permanently installed applications and are intended for environments going beyond the rider-driven specifications generally used in performance spaces. The xS-Series comprises seven stand-alone loudspeakers and three matching subwoofers and are spread over a broad range of sizes and output powers. The xA-Series comprises four loudspeakers and two matching subwoofers and are mechanically arrayable. The latter are equipped with integrated rigging for the design of vertical arrays providing application-specific dispersion and coverage characteristics. Having rotatable horns, discreet rigging hardware as well as a weather resistant or special color option, these systems maximize the deployment possibilities whether indoors or outdoors. Both series are supported by a selection of dedicated subwoofers which includes a passive cardioid design utilizing the d&b patented PSP (Plywood Signal Processing) technology that avoids unwanted energy behind the system using only a single amplifier channel. Within the black-on-black section the most recent additions to the E-Series, the E6 and E12X-SUB as well as the award-winning B4 passive cardioid subwoofer could be found alongside a selection of arrayed loudspeakers. This area comprised the innovative T-Series, which offers two different loudspeaker technologies in one package, and its bigger brothers the flexible Q-Series and the J-Series. To round off the product offering for the Black range were the compact yet highly efficient M4 and M6 stage monitors. All d&b loudspeakers are driven by either the d&b D6 or D12 amplifiers. With remote control, networking, and integration playing such increasingly important roles, an area of the d&b stand was also devoted to its R1Remote control software that enables control and monitoring of a large number of systems functions or integration into other media environments. Also on show was the latest incarnation of their ArrayCalc calculator that now supports all the loudspeakers from the xA-Series. Simon Johnston
