Alcons Embraces the Present and Future in FrankfurtAs well as showing new products and its annual 'glimpse into the future' at Prolight + Sound 2014, for the first time at the show Alcons Audio is giving comprehensive demonstrations of its audio technology. Exhibiting march 12 - 15 in hall 8, stand G60, Alcons will be launching two new compact loudspeakers, as additions to the V-series and B-series. Featuring the all-new RBN202 2" pro-ribbon driver for the first time, the V-series is extended with a versatile micro monitor for use in a wide variety of applications, where non-compromise fidelity is required. Another series extension is shown, now being the smallest of Alcons B-series subwoofers; a long-excursion 12" custom-designed woofer in a reflex-loaded configuration, as the perfect low-frequency extension for the smaller V-series monitors. The company will also be showing the new R-series RR12 modular point-source array. Featuring a passive two-way 6" pro-ribbon driver and 12" high-output woofer, the system is designed as a "building block" to create flown or stacked tight packed arrays for controlled sound coverage. The asymmetric 30-degree x 60-degree MorphMax waveguide provides increased throw to the rear to distribute sound evenly front-to-back. A regular feature of Alcons Prolight + Sound stand is its "design study" of R&D prototype developments, some of which may be applied to future products. This year sees "QVR" on show, a pro-ribbon loaded modular line-source system which is scalable for both use for near-field monitoring or for far-field main PA, what the company says is bringing "versatility" to a next level. As well as the company's stand, Alcons is hosting demonstrations of its systems on the first two days of the show, Wednesday, March 12, and Thursday, March 13. The highlight of Alcons' presence in Frankfurt will be the demonstration of the larger-format LR24 three-way pro-ribbon line array; Loaded with the unique RBN1402rsr proprietary pro-ribbon transducer, with unmatched flat SPL up to 20kHz, according to the company, the LR24 sets a new benchmark for throw, projection control, and sound quality. The LR24 is accompanied by the system-matched BC543 triple 18" carbon-cone cardioid subwoofer, driven by Sentinel 10 amplified loudspeaker controllers. All four acoustic formats of Alcons products will be demonstrated -- the VR8 ultra-compact point-source monitor, the QR24 line source column, LR7 micro line array and RR12 point source array, besides the LR24. The demonstrations will take place three times on each of the two days, those visitors wanting to attend should register their interest at the Alcons stand, Hall 8, stand G60.
