SONIK Completes its First CODA Audio Install in Iceland Established in 2014, SONIK is a Reykjavik-based event technology supplier specializing in audio, lighting, video, streaming, and staging. As well as supplying live events, SONIK also designs and integrates systems for fixed installation. Its client base mainly comprises large companies and government agencies but is by no means limited to this sphere. SONIK recently installed an audio system at a church in the town of Grundarfjörður, and although small in scale, the project made a little piece of history as the company's first CODA Audio install in Iceland. Project manager Baldur Rafn Gissurarson of SONIK explains: "We first encountered CODA Audio at Prolight & Sound in Frankfurt a few years ago, and were impressed by the product range and very competitive prices. That resulted in a conversation with CODA's Paul Ward which recently led to us becoming a CODA dealer. The Grundarfjarðarkirkja was in need of an audio upgrade, and having contacted a few suppliers for quotes, awarded us the job. CODA definitely stood out in terms of looks, spec and prices, and with stock available immediately, the process was quick and easy." SONIK installed 4 x HOPS8i loudspeakers mounted with CODA's H8H brackets and powered by a single LINUS5-C DSP amplifier. The Church's technician and organist Thorkell Mani was in no doubt that the right choice had been made: "We are so happy with the results here. We were amazed at how clearly we could hear every word, whether it's spoken or sung. This was a very successful install, and I would highly recommend CODA Audio's loudspeakers!" Rafn Gissurarson sees a bright future for CODA products in Iceland as the nation emerges from the coronavirus pandemic: "As the restrictions on people gathering together are loosened, we are getting a lot of requests from all types of venues asking us to quote for installations. We know that CODA Audio has the range of products to cover the widest possible range of application, and we're also excited to see new products being launched. We feel that the HOPS12i has a lot of potential for our type of installation. We believe that CODA installation at Grundarfjarðarkirkja will prove to be the first of many!" Paul Ward, global director of sales for CODA Audio adds: "It's good to hear that the first SONIK install of CODA Audio in Iceland has been so well-received by the client. SONIK's commitment to the brand is also something that we value very highly - it's clear that they have a genuine enthusiasm for the brand, and we share their optimism for the future. This small church installation of HOPS8i took place at roughly the same time as a much larger N-RAY system at a church in Los Angeles - the contrast is a great illustration of how our range can meet the widest range of requirements. There really is a CODA system for every job."
