Acentech Welcomes Evelyn R. Way, INCE, as Acoustical ConsultantAcentech Inc., a multi-disciplinary acoustics, audiovisual systems design, and vibration consulting firm, announces that Evelyn R. Way, INCE, has joined the firm as a senior consultant in the architectural acoustics and mechanical systems group. Way brings a proven ability to integrate acoustic recommendations into the overall design of a project, engaging with architects and end users to achieve acoustically superior buildings. "We are pleased to welcome Evelyn to our growing team of dedicated acoustics professionals," said Benjamin Markham, LEED AP, director of Acentech's architectural acoustics group. "Evelyn's depth and breadth of experience in architectural acoustics is an enormous asset to our team and to the clients we serve." Way brings eight years of broad project experience, leadership, and a highly developed skill set in room acoustics, sound isolation, and building systems noise control design for a range of educational and professional projects. Before joining Acentech, she was a co-founder and principal of Pin Drop Acoustics in Chicago, an acoustics consulting practice that focused on the design of assembly spaces, such as theatres, concert halls, multi-use auditoriums, classrooms, conference centers, and worship spaces. There, she worked in all aspects of acoustics design and managed client projects through all phases of design and construction. Her project experience at Pin Drop Acoustics includes the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, New York; the McAninch Arts Center of College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and the Cayman Academy Auditorium in the Cayman Islands. Prior to founding Pin Drop Acoustics, Way was an acoustics consultant at Talaske, an internationally recognized leader in the acoustic design of performance spaces. In that role, she managed and participated in the design and site review efforts for many of the firm's most complex projects, including facilities for the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, Illinois; the Harman Center for the Arts in Washington, DC; and the Guthrie Theater on the River in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Earlier in her career, Way focused on choral, operatic, and musical theatrical performance, having received a bachelor of music from the University of North Carolina and undertaken graduate studies in vocal performance at the University of Northern Colorado. She merged her experience as a performer with her interest in science and design by earning a master of building science in architectural acoustics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is actively involved in several professional societies, including the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE), and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). She has been an invited lecturer at Judson University and the Acoustical Society of America.
