Pilbrow to Receive USITT's Golden Pen AwardLighting&Sound America has learned that Richard Pilbrow will receive the USITT Golden Pen Award for his memoir, A Theatre Project. The Golden Pen Award "honors an outstanding publication in the field of design and production for the performing arts," according to USITT. A Theatre Project, which is published by PLASA, details Pilbrow's tumultuous career as a lighting designer, West End producer, and theatre consultant, among other careers. It recounts the rise and fall of Theatre Projects as a design/rental/production firm, and the company's re-emergence as a leader in the field of theatre consulting. It has been acclaimed by reviewers around the world. As part of the award, Pilbrow will take part in a session at USITT"s Conference and Stage Expo, to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, running March 20-23, 2013. Pilbrow will also present the keynote at PLASA Focus: Stamford on Monday, November 12 in Stamford, Connecticut. His subject will be "Architecture and the Art of Theatre Design."
