New from ENTTEC is the Din Pixie. Billed as being a smart, cost-effective lighting control solution, it is a compact, DIN-rail mountable, two-universe DMX-to-LED pixel protocol converter, engineered to take any architectural, commercial, or entertainment project to the next level.

Features include support for multiple LED integrated circuits; an intuitive configuration that enables the device to be heavily tailored to users' projects; a stand-alone mode that allows playback of a prerecorded sequence with advanced control options; wide input voltage range (5 - 48V) that allows the device to be powered on the same PSU as your LEDs; a self-healing fuse with surge protection on every port; reverse polarity protection on side SPI data line; overtemperature protection; internal SPI memory soldered directly to the circuit board; and slim, electrically isolated four-DIN-unit form factor with surface and TS-35 DIN rail mount. The company's free PRO-MANAGER software can be used to test, update, and configure the unit.

The project can be used in practically any situation that requires up to two universes of pixel control, the company says. The onboard memory provides extra versatility, letting users program a stand-alone show for simpler projects such as a small shopfront. For bigger installs, users can tie in numerous DIN Pixies with a Storm-Ethernet-to-DMX node and expand out the installation to hundreds of universes.
