Gold Coast Cultural Precinct Design Competition Winner Announced

Gold Coast Cultural Precinct design winner by ARM Architecture and Schuler Shook Theatre Planners.

An eight-member independent jury has selected Melbourne's ARM Architecture as the winner of the Gold Coast (Australia) Cultural Precinct design competition. Schuler Shook Theatre Planners are pleased to be part of the winning team. ARM's multidisciplinary approach resulted in a precinct design that was described by jurors as "a bold and inclusive reimagining of what a cultural precinct might be, seeking to engage the widest possible demographic." The winning design in this international competition was selected from 75 stage one entries and three shortlisted stage two submissions.

The new cultural precinct will be sited on 11 hectares at Evandale, the location of the current Arts Centre Gold Coast, which will be re-vitalized as part of the precinct-wide project. ARM's team will be designing indoor and outdoor spaces to support artistic programming and active participation from both residents and visitors to the area.

Video of and information about the winning design is available at the Gold Coast website: http://goldcoastculturalprecinct.info/design-competition/exhibition They are also open to the public for viewing at The Reveal exhibition at the Gold Coast from November 22 to December 15, 2013.
