Earthworks, Inc. Introduces The SR40V High Definition Vocal Microphone Featuring a 9mm back electric condenser-type transducer with a diaphragm measuring five microns, Earthworks, Inc's SR40V is said to produce fastest transient response of any vocal microphone on the market. Combined with a Hyper Cardioid polar pattern, the microphone is said to deliver superior sounding, natural on- and off-axis performance compared to any microphone previously available. With a frequency range spanning from 80 Hz - 40 kHz, the SR40V is the world's first high definition condenser vocal microphone. Capturing this True Live Sound (TLS) is what differentiates an Earthworks microphone from the competition, the company says. The SR40V's patented technology provides extreme accuracy in the time domain, which is essential for harmonics to be reproduced faithfully and not be smeared or distorted, the company says. The new SR40V achieves the recreation of the True Live Sound with its circuitry by combining flat, extended frequency response with lightning-fast impulse response, the company adds. This circuitry is handcrafted to match each capsule for optimum performance. With a self-noise rating of just 22dB SPL (A weighted), a sensitivity rating of 10mV/Pa (-40dBV/Pa), and a peak acoustic output rating of 145dB SPL, the mic combines extremely low handling noise with robust performance and output capability. Bill Norton, Earthworks' COO, says, "We are extremely proud of this new mic," states Norton. "Earthworks' dedication to producing what we call 'True Live Sound' has long been a hallmark that defines our entire product line. For quite some time now, music and audio professionals have asked us for a vocal microphone with these characteristics and the SR40V is the result of that endeavor. Everything about this microphone -- from its accuracy of sound and the way it feels in the hand to its refined build quality -- unite to form a world-class experience that better enables vocalists to showcase their talents in an entirely new light." The new Earthworks SR40V High Definition Vocal Microphone is expected to be available Q1, 2011. Pricing has not yet been determined.
