Charcoalblue Appoints New Head of Projects The UK-based theatre consultancy Charcoalblue has appointed Alex Wardle as head of project management, effective immediately. For the past six years Wardle has worked as a theatre consultant for Arup. During that time he was responsible for the design and commissioning of lighting systems for projects including: Kings Place in London, Glasgow City Halls, Royal College of Music, London, and Grand Canal Theatre, Dublin. "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to work for such a dynamic and forward looking company," comments Wardle. "I relish the idea of contributing towards Charcoalblue's diverse range of exciting projects and at the same time I'm planning to keep my hand in the live theatre world as a lighting designer." Wardle will next be lighting a production at London's Arcola Theatre in September. He also brings ten years touring experience, including five years as production manager for Kneehigh Theatre: shows ranged from site-specific productions in Cornwall to co-productions with the National Theatre and tours to Australia, China, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Syria and the USA. Andy Hayles, managing director, says: "The team at Charcoalblue is thrilled to welcome a theatre professional with the extensive experience Alex brings. He exudes the kind of collaborative philosophy and willingness to learn that we at Charcoalblue believe is crucial to the success of our business. For us every project is unique and each demands a fresh approach. Alex's experience as a lighting designer and understanding of the ever-changing dynamic of theatre means he is well suited to our company. His continued involvement in theatre lighting design will ensure he brings this approach to the table on every project he's involved in."
