Elation Pro Active Day Attracts Lighting Professionals from Five CountriesAn enthusiastic group of lighting designers, installers, dealers, and other professionals from Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands, and Poland journeyed to Elation Professional's European headquarters recently for the annual Elation Pro Active Day. Living up to its name, the day-long event involved a variety of hands-on demonstrations, fun events, and other activities for the pros who attended. Moderated by Elation's Harry De Lon, an industry veteran who is widely respected for his understanding of stage, touring, and theatrical lighting, the program featured sessions on theatre lighting, moving heads, and new product updates. These sessions took place in Elation's showroom, which provided realistic settings for the lighting demonstrations. The advanced Elation showroom also served as the setting for "product shootouts," which offered head-to-head comparisons between Elation fixtures and comparable products from leading competitors. The five shootouts were as follows: • Elation Platinum Wash ZFX compared to the GLP X4, Martin MAC Aura, and Robe Robin 600 • Platinum Beam 5R Extreme compared to the Clay Paky Sharpy • Platinum Spot 15R Pro compared to the Martin MAC 700 • The new Elation Satura Spot LED Pro compared to the Robe DLX Spot and GLP Spot One • The Platinum Spot 35 Pro compared to the Martin MAC Viper and Robe RMX • The ARRI ST1 and ST2 compared to the Elation TVL F1 WW and DLED Fresnel 250 The Elation fixtures were rated very favorably relative to competing products in the head-to-head evaluations, according to the company. Another interesting result of the product shootout was that many visitors left the event with a new appreciation of LED white light fixtures. After seeing the LED fixtures compared to conventional white lighting, the company says even the biggest skeptics acknowledged that the former was every bit the equal to the latter. Aside from benefiting from some intensive learning experiences, attendees at the 2013 edition of Elation Pro Active Days enjoyed plenty of networking opportunities and good times, especially at the American-style barbeque reception held on the spacious second story patio deck at the company's headquarters. Elation Europe's American cousins from the ADJ Group were so impressed with the success of Pro Active Day that they plan on holding similar events at the company's Los Angles facility. This move certainly has the endorsement of Dirk Kast, CEO of Elation Europe. "As a company, we believe that our success rests on keeping our customers informed, not only about our products, but also about the state of technology in the lighting industry and how it can help them advance their careers," said Kast. "When we do this everyone benefits; we have more informed and successful customers and our business prospers. This is the philosophy behind our Pro Active Days; and it's why we will continue to hold these events in the future." See Elation Professional at PLASA Focus: Austin, September 10-11.
