AVL Expo 2014 Helps Northwest Worship Community See "Big Picture" for Technology IntegrationApproximately 120 members of the Pacific Northwest's worship community attended last month's free Audio, Visual, Lighting Conference and Expo (AVL Expo), presented by professional video and audio systems integration firm Advanced Broadcast Solutions (ABS), in collaboration with ExperienceChurch.tv. Some of the expo's most popular conference sessions focused on audio, but the program also included presentations on production switchers, cameras, cloud-based resources, and more. Dennis Cummins, pastor at Experience Church.tv, which hosted the event at its church in Puyallup, Washington, said this year's expo attracted a large number of senior pastors. "I think it's because the pastors of small to medium-sized churches are starting to understand that they need to be involved in the audio, video, and lighting at least in some part to really make it successful," he said. "This doesn't mean they have to know all the nuts and bolts of making it work. Conceptually, they need to have the big picture in order to be a good steward of purchases and produce a great product." AVL Expo also featured an exhibit hall and networking opportunities specifically tailored for the worship community. "It's encouraging to see so many churches investing the time to make sure their investment in AV technology is solid," added Mark Siegel, president of ABS. "We also add new speakers, new sessions, and new exhibitors to keep AVL Expo fresh and current for attendees."
