Barry Cobus is Dead at 65: Founded Technologies for Worship Barry Cobus, a founder and publisher of Technologies for Worship magazine, died on August 31 at his home in Queensville, Ontario. He was 65. The cause was brain lymphona. Originally a musician, he founded Barry Cobus Mangaement, which became a top manager of bands in Canada in the 1970s. He and his wife, Shelagh, also published the AMI Directory, a music industry resource, for a number of years. In 1992, he and Shelagh founded Technologies for Worship, which grew into a major industry publication. Since his diagnosis in 2006, Cobus continued working, traveling the world and attending trade shows where the Technologies for Worship pavilion was a regular presence. Cobus is survived by Shelagh and four children: Christine, Jamie, Bryan, and Kevin. He is predeceased by his son Andrew. There was a private cremation; a memorial service is being planned.
