APT Entertainment Electrics, Power Distro, and Controls Training Comes to BurbankThe Academy of Production Technology (APT) will conduct a class on entertainment electrics, power distribution, and control systems in Burbank, California on December 3 - 4, 2014. The class covers topics that are listed as being in the content outline for ETCP Entertainment Electrician Certification and are intended for beginning to advanced electricians and technicians lighting, video, and audio. The classes will be held at the IATSE Local 728 facilities at Magnolia and N. Glenwood Place in Burbank. This is an ETCP Recognized course. The event is presented by Richard Cadena, who is founder of the APT; an ETCP Certified Entertainment Electrician; a nationally recognized trainer; and a best-selling author. The educational and entertaining event covers the theory of electricity, power distribution, and control networking for the stage and studio. The Entertainment Technician Certification Program (ETCP) is an industry-wide program developed by the PLASA Foundation (formerly the ESTA Foundation) to promote safety through testing and assessment. "This seminar is an excellent review for the practicing entertainment electrician as well as a primer for the aspiring electrician," says Cadena. "It has enough detail and information to challenge the experienced among us but presented in such a way as to convey useful concepts to the less experienced with a minimum amount of math and complexity." "I learned more usable and appropriate knowledge in Richard's course than I did in four years of college," says Tony Hansen, lighting designer and systems consultant with Techni-Lux. "The class addressed issues we run into daily," adds another former student, Jason Gay. "I am more confident in my ability to work safely and direct others in their work."
