Waves Audio Introduces SoundGrid Extreme DSP ServerWaves Audio announces SoundGrid Extreme, the latest iteration of its SoundGrid protocol for live applications. The most powerful SoundGrid DSP server ever, Waves SoundGrid Extreme is ready to tackle the heaviest processing challenges. SoundGrid Extreme boasts some very impressive benchmarks, running over 500 instances of Waves stereo SSL E-channel or C4 multiband compressor plugins, with latency as low as 0.8 milliseconds. Featuring an Intel i7 Extreme microprocessor which delivers over 40% more power than the SGS Server One, the Extreme DSP server is housed in a rugged road-ready 2U chassis. SoundGrid gives users the ability to run large numbers of Waves' acclaimed audio processors using standard PCs via Ethernet, far surpassing the specs of dedicated DSP-based platforms. SoundGrid offers super low latency performance, which means users can take advantage of even more audio processors and CPU-intensive processors than ever before. The company says Waves is leveraging the recent advances in both Ethernet and CPU technologies to provide better, more cost-effective performance for the pro audio and live sound markets. SoundGrid Extreme benchmarks: • Latency (roundtrip total) o 40* samples / 0.83ms o 80* samples / 0.83ms • SSL E-channel stereo o 512 instances @ 48kHz o 288 instances @ 96kHz • IR-Live o 30 instances @ 48kHz o 18 instances @ 96kHz • L3 Multimaximizer o 158 instances @ 48kHz o 64 instances @ 96kHz • C4 Multiband Compressor Stereo o 512 instances @ 48kHz o 288 instances @ 96kHz
