Troxy, London, Gets The Chauvet Treatment Nearly 150 Chauvet fixtures were installed in Troxy, a London-based multifunctional venue for live concerts, corporate events, weddings, indoor sports, and more. Lighting designer Dan Sanders capitalized on dramatic uplighting opportunities of the art-deco style venue with a bevy of LED wash lights specified by JPS Sound & Light, based in St. Ives, Cornwall. Installed throughout the venue are 16 COLORado Tri Tour, 60 COLORband Tri, and 10 COLORado Batten 72 Tour [as well as 36 LED PAR 38 wash lights]. Sanders specifically sought LED-fitted fixtures due to their longer life and color-changing capabilities. "There are 150 fixtures installed throughout," Sanders said. "I didn't want to change 150 light bulbs. Color-changing LEDs were selected because the interior is white and pastel and we could add colors and turn [the venue into] whatever color was required, both the walls and ceilings." Additionally, LEDs provide a savings in power. The consumption of the previous fixtures was 32 amps and now it's a considerably lower 14 amps "on full white." Troxy, which can seat 2,600 people, is one of London's most versatile venues. A balcony with ample seating overlooks the main stage of the grand hall. Beneath the balcony, is an expansive area that can be used in a variety of ways, with seating or standing options depending on the event. It took over a year to install and program all of the lighting fixtures, with the suspended ceiling under the balcony providing the greatest challenge. The two main walls of the grand hall, facing each other and perpendicular to the stage, are appointed with decorative alcoves uplit by COLORado 1 Tri Tour and COLORado Batten 72 Tour wash lights. COLORado 1 Tri Tour fixtures handle the long throws of 15 meters from the dance floor, uplighting the alcoves which flank the stage and the intricately defined sections that adorn the grand hall. COLORado Batten 72 Tour linear washes are employed for shorter throws of 6 meters. All of the fixtures work together in a coordinated light show to "mirror each other." At the back of the stage are six COLORado Tri Tour wash lights that work alongside six COLORband Tri linear wash lights. Opposite the stage, under the balcony four rows of nine LED PAR 38s, painted in a cream color to match the ceiling, downlight the space below. Alternatively placed are five rows of 12 COLORband Tri linear wash lights which together provide coverage for the entire space. In the end, there are "four color zones" under the balcony which offer a multitude of options for any event.
