Alcorn McBride at Give Kids the World Village

Alcorn McBride Digital Binloop HD and Video Binloop systems are helping to make a visit to Give Kids The World Village, a 70-acre, nonprofit storybook resort located near Central Florida's most famous attractions. Children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are treated to weeklong, no cost, fantasy vacations at the village.

Two Alcorn McBride Digital Binloop HD and two Video Binloop systems are deployed in a pair of key venues at the resort. Each of the children visiting the village receives a golden star and an invitation from the Star Fairy to bring it to the Enchanted Castle of Miracles, where they will make a wish on the star and place it in the Star Fairy's wooden chest. Each day, the Star Fairy gathers the golden stars and places them in the castle sky. But with available space in the castle sky dwindling, a new Star Tower structure was built to enable the wish star tradition to continue for the next 20 years.

Themed entertainment design company ITEC Entertainment Corp. specified Alcorn McBride Video Binloops for sound cues associated with the star placement. Animation, twinkling lights, and other effects make each child's star disappear from the Star Fairy's chest and begin its journey to the Castle of Miracle's sky. "There are many triggered sound effects and background music in the castle area and the Video Binloop system, equipped with Cobranet, sources all the audio," explains Scott Fischler, of ITEC. "We also have an Alcorn McBride DMX Machine controlling a series of LED lights in the Star Tower."

Digital Binloop HD systems and Video Binloops play a central role in the video and music presentations in the new Gallery of Love. Carved out of the former Caring Center building, the Gallery of Love visitor center celebrates and honors the generosity of the corporate partners and individuals who have helped the resort grow into the magical place it is today.

After gutting the building, an integrated show system for videos and background music was installed. A video documentary about Henri Landwirth, the founder of the resort, is played back from a Binloop HD system in the lobby area. The rotunda features four video screens, mounted in portrait mode, displaying rotating donor text lists that come from the HD Binloop. Another six screens, also in portrait mode, form a videowall showing sponsor logos interwoven with photos of the visiting children or donor-supplied video content on a single screen or across all six screens. The screens are fed by six separate video sources and one channel of audio all coming from a Digital Binloop HD.

Fischler is pleased with the Alcorn McBride acquisitions. "The systems are working great and we're very happy with them," he reports.
