Shure Hosts Second Annual Golf OutingOn June 27, 88 golfers and 110 dinner guests came together to support the Merit School of Music at the second annual Shure Invitational Golf Outing. The event was held at White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville, Illinois. The event included a round of golf followed by a dinner banquet and raffle, which featured prize options including an Apple Watch, concert tickets, and round-trip airfare. A live auction was also held for a framed poster signed by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who. Shure Associates, friends, family, and vendors, raised money for the Merit School. As fine arts funding decreases, the need for supplemental outlets for creativity increases. While many families send their kids to music classes to fill this gap, other families can't afford to pay full price for these opportunities. This is where the Merit School of Music steps in. Founded in 1979, the Merit School's mission is to provide high-quality music education to children all over Chicago with a focus on underserved communities. By providing low-cost lessons and a chance to be a member of the 350-person tuition-free Alice S. Pfaelzer Conservatory, the Merit School inspires Chicago youth to achieve their musical and personal potential. The non-profit offers the aforementioned Conservatory program, off-campus music instruction, and a range of preparatory programs, including vocal instruction, music theory classes, large ensembles, and genre-specific instruction.
