South Arkansas Community College Chooses Elation Lighting PackageSouth Arkansas Community College was recently awarded a state grant to purchase an intelligent lighting system and chose an Elation LED lighting package of EPAR QA Par lights, ELED Fresnel 150s, and Cuepix Strip Tri lights, which the institute's performance and media arts department will be using as part of their education curriculum. "We intend to use the new system to teach lighting in our classes," commented Larry Powell, director of performance and media arts at South Arkansas Community College. "The portable system will be in a classroom lab and then transported as needed to other venues such as our outdoor stage." A stipulation of the grant was training on how to use the new system, a requirement that Jay Cid of Elation rep firm PSLP (Professional Sound and Lighting Products) fulfilled by holding a lighting workshop at the College on September 8th for students and faculty. The workshop covered the ins and outs of the luminaires and also covered wireless LED control and computerized lighting programming using Elation software. "The SouthArk PMA program will be using this equipment for performances and it is our desire to train as many people as possible on campus should they desire to work on any productions," states Powell. "We chose Elation products because of its ease of use and reasonable price but the high output of the LED Fresnel's, its low power consumption, color saturation, and flicker-free operation were also key factors. Our students have adapted quickly to the setup and enjoyed the product training." The equipment purchase also included Elation Emulation lighting control software, a MidiCon lighting controller, and an EWDMX wireless DMX system, as well as Global Truss products. Powell thanks Bensberg Music for sales and support and Cid at PSLP for the product training. See Elation Professional at PLASA Focus: Orlando, February 17 - 18, 2015.
