USITT Partners with Clear-Com for Main Stage Communications System at Annual Conference

FreeSpeak II 2.4GHz

Clear-Com, a provider of critical voice communications systems, has partnered with the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) to provide the communications system for all main stage events during the USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo, to be held March 20 - 23 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville. In addition, Ryan Kane, a senior at Emerson College in Boston, will be honored with the Clear-Com-sponsored USITT Stage Management Award in recognition of his commitment to stage management and unwavering dedication to the performing arts.

For USITT19 -- which is expected to attract roughly 4,000 design and production technology professionals -- the main stage show delivers six to eight hours of presentations daily, ranging from the keynote speaker, opening night festivities, award ceremonies, and workshops during the show. For the four days of USITT19, a Clear-Com HelixNet digital network partyline intercom system combined with a FreeSpeak II digital wireless intercom system will be used, providing a combination of wired and wireless communications capabilities. The USITT19 system will consist of 20 HelixNet beltpacks, eight FreeSpeak II beltpacks, and a combination of CC-110-X4 single-ear premium light-weight headsets and CC-26K-X4 single open-ear lightweight headsets to allow for each person to select their headset of choice.

"Reliable communications are a must for any event, but for this one in particular -- where industry members themselves are the audience -- it's absolutely imperative to get them right," said Rachel Archibald, director of marketing at Clear-Com. "We are honored that USITT trusts in Clear-Com solutions for its own stage events, as do thousands of users around the world."

Clear-Com continues to demonstrate its dedication to the live sound industry through its support of USITT and the Young Designers, Managers & Technicians (YDMT) Awards as this year's sponsor of the organization's Stage Management Award. Clear-Com and USITT have chosen Ryan Kane, a senior at Emerson College in Boston, as the recipient of the award for 2019. The YDMT Awards are presented to young designers, managers, and technicians in the industry who are beginning their careers and who demonstrate outstanding potential in areas such as stage management, technical production, and lighting design.

"As students like Ryan make the transition from higher education to the professional world, Clear-Com is proud to be an ongoing sponsor of USITT's Young Designers, Managers & Technicians Awards," added Archibald. "His professional commitment, artistic skills, and technical knowledge will serve him well as he begins his professional career. We congratulate Ryan and all the other award winners on their achievements and wish them all the best as they become theatrical professionals."

In recognition of his contributions, Kane will receive free registration to the four-day USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo (March 20 - 23), plus a cash prize and an impressive addition to his resume. The award will be presented on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at USITT19 in Louisville.
