NATEAC 2012 Schedule and Venue Announced

Bill Sapsis announces the dates and location of the next North American Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference (NATEAC). The conference will be held at the Hilton Hotel in mid-town New York City on July 22 and 23, 2012. "I can think of no better place to hold a theatre conference", said Sapsis, "than in the heart of the theatre district in New York City. In addition to two days of excellent panels and discussions, the attendees will have access to the best of what New York City has to offer."

Sapsis, who is reprising his role as conference director, continued, "The need for continuing discussion regarding venue design is very real and I felt it extremely important to once again offer a forum for industry professionals to hold these discussions. The fact that NATEAC 2008 was extremely well received doesn't hurt either."

The architect Hugh Hardy, of HH3, who gave one of the keynote speeches at the 2008 NATEAC, commented, "With NATEAC, you found the proper balance between presentation and schmoozing. Everyone seemed to be having a splendid time."

Larry Kirkegaard, of Kirkegaard Associates, a presenter at NATEAC 2008 also noted, "NATEAC was a wonderful success. You and your staff did a terrific job in organizing the sessions both in content and delivery. Well done. Count me in for the next one."

The continuing goal of NATEAC is to promote communication between everyone involved in designing and building new theatres or renovating existing facilities. As evidenced by the first NATEAC, the need for communication is clear, and NATEAC will offer avenues to continue those discussions. There is an increasing need for those responsible for these spaces -- architects, engineers, consultants, manufacturers, and end-users- to have an opportunity to share their ideas concerning current technologies and to explore what the future may hold for performance spaces throughout North America. NATEAC will help facilitate the process of design, construction, and renovation of traditional and non-traditional theatres to the benefit of all that use them.

In addition to the two conference days, social events are being planned for before and after the conference.
