ArKaos Kling-Net Protocol Drives Chauvet's ÉPIX Range at NAMM 2012

ArKaos, the provider of technology for live visual performances, will be bringing its new protocol, Kling-Net, to NAMM 2012, January 19-22, Anaheim, California.

. Kling-Net will appear in the new ÉPIX range of LED lighting fixtures from Chauvet (Booth #5581). Chauvet was one of the first manufacturers to recognize the qualities of Kling-Net on its launch at PLASA 2011, and has collaborated with ArKaos to incorporate it into its pixel-based products, launching ÉPIX Bar and ÉPIX Strip at LDI 2011.

ÉPIX Bar is an independent batten-style fixture which incorporates 160 brilliant tri-colored SMD LEDs for dynamic video displays. ÉPIX Strip is a one-pixel-wide strip of 40 SMD LEDs, designed for video and pixel-mapping applications with countless of layout options. Both of these new products, and the ÉPIX Drive 640 power and data supply, are operated exclusively by ArKaos Kling-Net.

ArKaos says Kling-Net is a unique protocol designed specifically to allow the distribution of real-time video data to remote display devices, like LEDs or LED panels, over Ethernet.

The company adds that Kling-Net can transform the simplest of LED devices into an intelligent Kling-Net device that can talk to, and be controlled by, a media server. Auto configuration of devices upon start up dispenses with the need for complicated set up procedures. The media server can then read and change parameters from the device.

"Many basic and first time users are afraid of using LED lighting because of the complexity of networking and control issues," says ArKaos' CEO, Marco Hinic. "Traditionally, using and networking LED lighting has required a high level of technical knowledge which has been a deterrent for many. We wanted to remove all this complexity and replace it with a simple to use protocol which automatically takes care of the magic numbers for the user.
