In Memoriam: Kenyon L. PattersonKenyon L. Patterson, Sr., president of Tennessee Lighting, died on earlier this week. He was 75. Patterson grew up on the campus of the University of Tennessee. An avid athlete, he was a star in track, football, and hockey while attending Knoxville's West High School. A gifted musician, he played bass guitar professionally before settling on a career in entertainment lighting. Known as KP in the lighting world, he was an expert on all things lighting from the smallest chapels to patenting MOTODATA for Garth Brooks' tours. His lighting can be seen in churches, schools, theatres, and holiday rooftops throughout the Knoxville area. He was also a lifelong member of City View Baptist Church, keeping it beautifully lit and accompanying the worship music on his bass. Patterson was preceded in death by his parents, both brothers, stepdaughter JoAnna Velton, step-grandson Justin, and his niece Ronda Hart. He is survived by his wife Vicki and dog Maggie; son Kenyon L. Patterson Jr. (Kristina); sister Jo Owens (Dennis); stepchildren Sandy McElhaney (Brian), Kristi Doerr (Ron), Michele Gordon (Tim), David Brewer (April), and Kathy Jeffreys (Scott), and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished friends and exceptional neighbors. Visitation will be at City View Baptist Church, 2311 Fine Avenue, Knoxville on Saturday, February 1 from 2-4pm with services to follow. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to City View Baptist Church, or the Lewy Body Dementia Association (support@lbda.org).
