Lucille Lortel Nominations Announced

The nominations are in for the Lucille Lortel Awards, which honor achievement in the Off Broadway theatre. And the design nominees are:

In the design categories, the surreal family drama Wet Brain and the music industry drama Stereophonic each earned four nominations, the musical Buena Vista Social Club earned three, the theatre piece (pray) and the class-reunion drama The Comeuppance earned two. Scenic designer Arnulfo Maldonado earned two nominations, for Buena Vista Social Club and Dead Outlaw, as did projection designer Jared Mezzocchi, for Poor Yella Redecks and Russian Troll Farm.

Leading overall with multiple nominations are Wet Brain, with eight; Buena Vista Social Club and Stereophonic, with seven; and (pray) and Dead Outlaw, with six. The awards will be given out on May 5 at NYU's Skirball Center.
