Six Schuler Shook Projects Receive IES Awards of MeritSchuler Shook's lighting designers received recognition from the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) for their recent lighting designs. The IES bestowed on Schuler Shook six awards of merit for lighting designs across a variety of project types including commercial, higher education, outdoor urban site, restaurants, offices, and transportation. Of these, the Chicago Riverwalk project continued to the final level of judging and received an Award of Excellence for Outdoor Lighting Design. Architect: Gensler Lamar Street Underpass Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, Dallas, Texas IES Award of Merit Lighting design team: Jefferey Knox, IES; Kim Dai Solving multiple problems with good design, the new lighting design improves visibility for pedestrian and vehicular traffic, enhances wayfinding and creates an energetic entry point below the convention center. Architect: HKS Mayo Clinic Square, Minneapolis, Minnesota IES Award of Merit Lighting design team: Michael White, IES, LC, EDAC, LEED AP A re-development project that integrated lighting across the exterior façade of an entire city block to re-vitalize a fading landmark, address security issues, and add excitement to the area. Tradewinds Buffet Treasure Island Resort & Casino, Welch, Minnesota IES Award of Merit Lighting design team: Julia Gordon, IES; Michael DiBlasi, IALD, IES A renovation transformed this once dated restaurant buffet into an ultra-modern dining experience, alive with art and vibrant colors. The lighting design provides dramatic flair with large playful fixtures, back-lit onyx art features, glowing ceilings, and shimmering pendants. Architect: RSP Architects University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Academic Performing Arts Complex, Edinburg, Texas IES Award of Merit Lighting design team: Jefferey Knox, IES From the building's façade to the multiple lobbies to the theatre itself, the lighting schemes add a sense of excitement and sophistication to this new campus building.
