Fulcrum Acoustic at Light, Las VegasReturning to its roots with an eponymous nightlife venue, The Light Group, known for revolutionizing the Las Vegas nightlife experience over the last 10 years, is breaking new ground collaborating with Cirque du Soleil, for their first-ever nightlife venture, and MGM Resorts International, to introduce Light at Mandalay Bay on Memorial Day weekend. The chic, fashion-forward, 38,000 sq. ft. venue features a state-of-the-art, unique audio/visual system, installed by John Lyons Systems, with the majority of sound provided by Fulcrum Acoustic. Crucial to Light was to provide a fully immersive experience for the customer throughout the venue, not just on the dance floor. Light uses over 50 compact, high output loudspeakers from Fulcrum's Prophile Series, rather than fewer large speakers, creating high-density sound experiences throughout the entire club. Every banquette contains a Fulcrum US212 subwoofer, and each balcony table has its own individual light set-up and fog machine, so even when not on the dance floor, the guest can still appreciate the full Light experience. Providing a backdrop that befits Cirque du Soleil's first ever nightclub show was a driving factor in Light's install for John Lyons Systems. Six winch motors had to be installed above Light that connect to over 30 access points, allowing Cirque's aerialists to drop into the nightclub from virtually anywhere. At Light, Cirque performers can run up walls, interact with over 180' of touchscreen video projection space, and perform their world-renowned silk acts, delivering Cirque's first full nightclub show. A dance floor with four levels, plus two further mezzanine levels, posed a significant challenge when working to deliver unobstructed sight lines of the 180' video wall and Cirque performers. Packing a large punch while utilizing a small amount of space, the company says the Fulcrum Acoustic Prophile Series loudspeakers (S, M, and P) allowed for less bulky audio arrangements, providing world-class sound without impeding the visual experience for the audience. "The nightclub will serve as a laboratory, very much like our special events and projects have done in the past, for different and new artistic possibilities," said Guy Laliberté, founder, Cirque du Soleil. Designed as an experience to play with your senses, Light -- turned on by Cirque du Soleil -- will offer far more than the traditional nightclub. Upon arriving at Light, guests enter the realm of the unknown, as everyone in the club is part of the show. Headlining DJs and performers will lead the charge, coupled with exclusively built performance elements and visuals provided by revolutionary video mapping, lighting, sound, and special effects experts Moment Factory, as well as avant-garde costumes and unique choreography. At Light, no two nights out will be the same.
