AV Concepts Paints the USS Midway with Projection for Patriot Awards Recently AV Concepts transformed the aircraft carrier USS Midway in San Diego with projection mapping during the 5th Annual Midway American Patriot Awards honoring acclaimed naval aviators and American "heroes," senator John McCain and VADM James B. Stockdale (posthumously). Utilizing the massive 175'-wide and 65'-feet tall surface of the island above the flight deck, the project presented significant technical challenges with the many shapes, curves and dimensions of this projection surface. AV Concepts successfully utilized their proprietary Liquid Scenic media server in combination with advanced graphics software to seamlessly "paint" the entire area with virtual 3D imagery. Project lead Patricia Capritta, of Capritta and Associates, Inc. says, "As an event planner, I try to create an experience for my guests, and I look for an audio visual partner who can see my vision and can help me take it to the next level. AV Concepts is that kind of partner. They make your vision come alive. Their team of creative experts created an experience that made our guests say, "Wow!" AV Concepts has utilized this same proprietary solution to create dynamic scenic imagery for national conferences, animate tradeshow booth exteriors, bring buildings to life, and transform nightclub experiences. AV Concepts' president, Nick Smith, says, "AV Concepts is unique in our ability to blend the use of technology with creative, delivering experiences beyond expectations. Seeing the USS Midway transformed in a way that has never been done before is an exciting challenge for our team. We thrive on bringing the next new idea to life. The ultimate reward is the incredibly positive response from our clients and the attendees."
