Helen Hayes Nominations Announced

The nominees have been announced for the Helen Hayes Awards, which honor achievement in the Washington, DC metro theatre scene.

Below is a list of the design nominees:

In the set design category, the nominees are Phil Charlwood, for King Lear, at Synetic Theatre; Daniel Conway, for Cyrano, at Folger Theatre; David Ghatan, for Voices Underwater, at Roschach Theatre; Misha Kachman, for A Bright New Boise, at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company; James Noone, for The Habit of Art, at the Studio Theatre; Collin Ranney, for A Year with Frog and Toad, at Adventure Theatre; and Lee Savage, for Much Ado About Nothing, at Shakespeare Theatre Company.

In the lighting design category, nominees include Colin K. Bills, for A Bright New Boise; Michael Gilliam, for Ruined at Arena Stage; Andrew F. Griffin, for King Lear, and also for Othello at Folger Theatre; Chris Lee, for The Hollow, at Signature Theatre; Tyler Micoleau, for Much Ado About Nothing, at Shakespeare Theatre Company; and Thom Weaver, for Cyrano.

Sound design nominees include Chris Baine, for A Bright New Boise; Steven Cahill, for Much Ado About Nothing; Irakli Kavsadze and Kontantine Lortkipanidze, for King Lear; Nicole Martin, for Voices Underwater; Neil McFadden, for An Almost Holy Picture, at Rep Stage; Matt Rowe, for Hairspray, at Signature Theatre; and Tom Teasley, for The Green Bird, at Constellation Theatre Company.

Costume design nominees include Georgi Alexi Meskhishvili, for King Lear; Gregg Barnes, for Follies, at the Kennedy Center; Esosa, for Ruined; Kendra Rai, for The Green Bird, and Chelsey Schuller, for A Year With Frog and Toad.

The awards will be given out in a ceremony to be held April 23 at the Warner Theatre and the JW Marriott.
