GDS Appoints Nick Read to Head Up New GDS Specials Division

Nick Read

Nick Read has joined GDS as head of its newly created special projects division -- GDS Specials. Read has over 22 years experience in the entertainments industry, working recently as the head of hire and events for Northern Light and previously running his own successful hire company. With an electrical engineering background, he also has experience as a project manager, overseeing the €1m ($1.5m) technical-build of Wexford opera house in Ireland. He has worked around the UK and Europe as a freelance engineer and lighting designer, toured with and brought numerous shows into the West End, and worked as a production electrician for major theatre companies, on many of the largest show in London.

His roll will be to develop the GDS brand into the specials market in entertainment, special event and permanent installation.

Matthew Lloyd, managing director for GDS commented: "Nick brings with him a wealth of experience in special projects, he knows the industry well and is familiar with the challenges that are involved in delivering this type of specialist work.
