Promotions Announced at Available Light

Nastassia Ortiz and Dylan Bomgardner

Available Light announces the promotion of Nastassia Ortiz, jr. assoc. IALD and Dylan Bomgardner, jr. assoc. IALD to associates of the firm.

A graduate of Northwestern University's MFA Stage Design Program, Ortiz joined Available Light from the world of theatrical lighting design where she designed a wide range of performance-based productions around the country.

At Available Light, Ortiz has worked on a number of museum and architectural lighting projects including the award-winning Deep Time exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, the Latino Center at Smithsonian National Museum of American History, a new concourse for the Charlotte Airport, and a new engineering building for Penn State.

"Working at Available Light has truly been a wonderful gift," says Ortiz, "It is exciting and humbling to be a part of this amazing team of talented collaborators. When thinking back on this eventful year, I am filled with immense gratitude and appreciation for being given the opportunity to develop myself at a place that provides regular challenges and incredibly rewarding work. I look forward to continuing my professional growth and creating beautiful designs with this team."

After receiving an MFA in Theatrical Lighting Design from Virginia Tech, Bomgardner joined Available Light in 2018. His considerable skills as a designer, programmer, and systems integrator allowed Bomgardner to easily slip into the Available Light Special Events and Trade Show division working on projects for clients such as Red Hat, Charles River Labs, AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Novartis. With the rise of the 2020 pandemic, Bomgardner easily pivoted to project work in the museum and exhibition and architecture divisions on such projects as the Museum of African America Music, The Peabody Essex Museum, and the Lincoln Memorial Undercroft. Bomgardner currently serves as the alternative application lighting commission Rep to USITT.

Bomgardner remarks, "It's an honor and a privilege to these take these next steps with Available Light. I look forward to broadening my horizons within the company as well as bringing new and creative ideas to the table, especially with all of the challenges 2020 has brought with it. The motivation and drive of all the members of the company to create thoughtful and meaningful designs is extremely prevalent in all aspects of our operations. It is truly amazing to be a part of this unique team."

"Especially in these challenging Covid-19 times, I am grateful to work side-by-side by talented and passionate people, who have chosen to make Available Light their professional home," says Steven Rosen, FIALD, president and creative director, "Nastassia and Dylan represent the future of lighting design leasership; they assure our overarching goal to deliver world-class and high-performance lighting design to our clients and their constituents."
