Rat Sound Systems Inc. Takes Delivery of L-Acoustics KARA System Rat Sound Systems Inc has taken delivery of eighteen new L-Acoustics' KARA loudspeakers. The KARA is inspired by L-Acoustics' K1 stadium system, but is more compact in size and weight. "As we move into the new technologies used in LA8 amplifiers and K1 loudspeakers, we added the compact line array to complement it," explains Rat Sound's head of touring, Jon Monson. "We plan to use the Kara in two distinct ways: in configuration as under hangs for the K1, or as a complete standalone system for smaller venues and shows." The company says Kara delivers a considerable number of improvements over the previous generation of line sources, particularly with regard to directivity control in the horizontal plane, transducers resources for increased operating bandwidth and coherence, vertical coverage capability and extensive choice of operation modes to accommodate various LF contour requirements. "We are excited to be building out the L-ACOUSTICS K1 inventory with the latest and greatest product," says president of Rat Sound, Dave Rat. "2010, has been a successful year with tours and shows such as Blink 182, The Coachella and Stagecoach Festivals, Pearl Jam, and Jack Johnson all being extremely happy with the K1. The Kara will only add to that excitement."
