Robe BMFLs for Oceania Productions

Oceania Productions taking delivery of their new BMFLs.

New Zealand's Oceania Productions has invested in 32 of Robe's new Bright Multi-Functional Luminaire (BMFL) Spots.

These are the first BMFL Spots in New Zealand, the company says, and were delivered by the ULA Group, Robe's distributors for Australia & New Zealand.

Oceania Productions provides production solutions for a diverse range of shows and events all across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands--from theatres to arenas, Rock 'n' Roll to corporate and industrial shows, sports events to large spectaculars.

General manager Simon Garrett says, "The current look for many event designs is 'screens & beams', so we really needed a powerful and bright general purpose moving head spot that can be utilized as a workhorse shooting between 20m and 50m. It had to meet international specs as well as being appropriate for our own designs.

Built around a 1,700W lightsource, offering 250,000 Lux at 5m and a CRI of 92, "it seemed to have all the features we needed," says Simon. "Including the dual animation wheels, a good set of gobos and prisms. With the 5° - 55° zoom and weighing just 36Kgs...Everything sounded great".

Robe Lighting s.r.o.'s CEO Josef Valchar, together with Cuono Biviano and Tony Lukeman from ULA Group, travelled to New Zealand to hand over the BMFL Spot units to Simon and the Oceania Productions crew.

The first gig for the new fixtures was on NZ artist Lorde's recent tour, whose lighting designer David McIntyre says, "The BMFL is a great compact universal fixture with excellent optics that really 'pack-a-punch.'"
