W-DMX Installed in New i-Pix Satellite II Wireless Solution Sweden AB reports that its W-DMX technology is now available in the new i-Pix Satellite II. An LED brick light based on the original Satellite fixture, the new version is billed as having three times the output. Designed for theatrical applications where space is a premium, the Satellite can be easily concealed in a wide variety of small spaces in stage sets, under risers, in trussing, etc. With the addition of W-DMX, the company says, the unit solves a myriad of challenges involving complex cabling and difficult locations. Additional features of the Satellite II include RGB and daylight white (5,600 degrees K); homogenized optics; 16-bit, self contained; quick rig mounts for omega brackets; easy interlink between units to create linear forms with square pixels; optional beam-shaping films that clip onto the front; and optional yokes for linear interlinking. i-Pix also offers a satellite battery pack, which transforms the new unit into a freestanding, focusable RGBW device, with stand-alone or wireless DMX playback. it is designed to run for a minimum of nine hours with three of the four channels on full intensity. Chris Ewington, managing director of i-PIX, says, "With busy hire shops setting up numerous lights in and around venues, it can be quite a task with hard-wired DMX. Introducing wireless DMX built into the new improved Satellite Mk II marks a sea change in ease of use. Not only is data flow maintained, the fixture is further enhanced by being the first in its class to offer both on-grid and off-grid battery power. Whatever the power source, DMX data flows are easily dealt with, thanks to Wireless Solution. Stable, dependable and affordable, so much so that it's part of our standard product offering. We look forward to pushing this idea forward into other fixtures within our range." Niclas Arvidsson, CEO of Wireless Solution says, "i-Pix is an incredibly innovative company and the Satellite II is a perfect example of how well they know their market and design products that fill a niche. We're very happy to have them as an OEM partner."
