Adlib Gets Focused with PLASA in Glasgow

Adlib used the recent PLASA Focus Glasgow exhibition to underline its commitment to premium manufacturers, including L-Acoustics and Soundcraft by ensuring that stocks of these popular products are available in Scotland for all types of shows and events.

The Adlib team was led by John Hughes and Graham Cochrane. The exhibition proved a great chance for Adlib to meet Scottish industry contacts and friends and to consolidate their presence in the region, following the opening of a Glasgow office in early 2015 and the recent acquisition of EFX Audio.

A new Adlib warehouse facility in the city will be announced shortly, and the plan is to invest heavily in equipment, expertise, and resources in the area to offer high-quality and cost-effective production solutions.

In addition to the double stand on the trade show floor at the SECC, Adlib hosted a live demonstration area in conjunction with L-Acoustics and Soundcraft and also staged some special seminars related to the art of sound engineering and product choice on the Wednesday of the two day expo.

The L-Acoustics seminar and live demonstration was led by UK sales manager Stuart Down and product specialist Dan Orton who provided an overview of technologies offered by L-Acoustics and their correct applications.

The Soundcraft seminar was run by product specialist Andy Brown who provided an introduction to the Vi range of consoles from Soundcraft, showing the similarities between analog and digital workflows and how the Vi consoles make it easy to mix on the console for the first time.

Throughout the day, attendees could explore the demo area and get hands-on with L-Acoustics "X Series" and ARCS WiFo loudspeakers and the latest Soundcraft Vi7000 and Vi3000 consoles.

As the show drew to a close, Adlib organized refreshments to arrive and the demo area morphed into a social scene as well as a technical experience, with around 100 people enjoying the conviviality and chance to chat and compare notes.

"It was a big success all round," commented Hughes. "We wanted to show our strong affinity with these brands and illustrate how we use them day-to-day for numerous live entertainment applications, and to let people know the kit is right here for the Scottish market. PLASA Focus provided a perfect opportunity with its intimate atmosphere and emphasis on networking and communication."

Other leading consoles on the Adlib stand were DiGiCo, Yamaha, and Midas, cementing the company's ties with all these brands.

They engaged with a diverse range of people including those from rental companies and venues, as well as engineers and other end users.

The success to date of Adlib's Scottish office proves there is scope for considerable investment in equipment, people, and infrastructure to support further development in the region. The acquisition of the well-respected audio company EFX strengthens the platform for Adlib to grow its business and serve clients to the highest standards.

Following on from PLASA Focus, Adlib will shortly be announcing a series of product training dates for companies and freelancers.
