Ollie Olma to Curate the LightLab at Stage|Set|Scenery 2019 At Stage|Set|Scenery 2019 lighting designer Manfred "Ollie" Olma of mo2 design will again be curating the LightLab. The LightLab is one of the highlights of the international trade show and conference for theatre, film, and event technology, which will be taking place June 18 - 20 on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds and is co-organized by Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG) and Messe Berlin. The LightLab is where presentations and live demonstrations of the latest lighting design trends will be taking place. According to Olma, no other trade show has anything to compare with the LightLab. "The combination of spotlights used by us is unique the world over and clearly sets the LightLab apart," said Olma. His offices for lighting and media design cover a wide portfolio that combine creative design, planning, and actual implementation. Current projects include well-known TV series, large-scale stadium productions, sports events, and the illumination of buildings. Once again, Olma has put together a wide-ranging program for the LightLab. One of the highlights of the LightLab 2019 will be the Lifetime Talks, a new format' where Olma will meet well-known figures from the event and lighting technology industry whose lifetime achievements have made a lasting contribution to this sector. As in 2017, "Let's Talk about Light" discussion rounds with exhibitors will also be taking place. At the "Cooking with Ollie" sessions the curator will examine a number of lighting issues. Last year, one of the topics was illuminating painted surfaces. Once again, key industry players have been secured as sponsors: Nüssli is assisting with construction, Christie is providing the latest projector equipment, and Gerriets is supplying projection screens. Unlike in 2017, the LightLab will feature a more lightweight design and function as a kind of marketplace in the center of Hall 20.
