Sennheiser and Neumann Nominated for Prestigious NAMM TEC Awards

The Sennheiser HD 25 PLUS comes with two cables, a pouch and additional velour ear pads

Audio specialist Sennheiser and Neumann.Berlin have received Outstanding Technical Achievement nominations across three different categories in the 32nd Annual NAMM TEC Awards. Sennheiser was nominated for its Wireless System Remote (WSR) application, the HD 25 PLUS professional headphones, and the new evolution wireless G3 systems in the A1 band for the USA and Canada, while Neumann was nominated for its "Neumann in the Home Studio" educational microsite.

Presented by the , the NAMM TEC Awards honor outstanding achievement in product innovation and sound production. The 32nd Annual NAMM TEC Awards will be presented during the 2017 NAMM Show, which will be held in Anaheim, California on January 21, 2017. The nominations, based on product entries by audio manufacturers, were made by a select panel of professionals in numerous audio specialties.

Greg Beebe, director live performance and music at Sennheiser, commented: "We are extremely honored to have received several nominations for Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards by the NAMM Foundation. Our continued innovation in wireless technology is helping performers around the world access high-quality wireless audio in an increasingly difficult RF landscape, while making it simpler to operate wireless systems with tools such as the new WSR app. We are pleased that the NAMM Foundation has recognized these innovations."

Wolfgang Fraissinet, director, audio recording at Sennheiser and president of Neumann, added: "We are extremely pleased to have been nominated for 'Neumann in the Home Studio', a site that provides musicians with a wealth of background information, tutorials and sound samples. The Home Studio site recognizes the fact that recording has become an integral part of the creative process, with an ever-increasing number of artists recording at home and while on the road."

Sennheiser's free wireless system remite (WSR) app has secured a nomination in the category "Audio Apps & Hardware/Peripherals for Smartphones/Tablets." The app enables users to remote-control their Sennheiser ew D1 radio microphone systems via iPad and iPhone, assisting in the configuration, management, and monitoring of radio links.

The HD 25 PLUS professional headphones were also nominated in the "Audio Apps & Hardware/Peripherals for Smartphones/Tablets" category. This updated version enhances the classic model with newly designed headband ends that lock the earcups securely into place, treating users with extra accessories that include both a straight and a coiled steel cable, a storage pouch and an extra set of soft velour earpads.

In the light of a future spectrum reallocation in North America, Sennheiser launched a new frequency variant for its most popular lines of wireless systems this summer. The ew 100 G3-A1 and ew 300 IEM G3-A1 versions cover the frequency range between 470MHz and 516MHz, anticipating future customer needs in the USA and Canada. The A1 variants were nominated in the category "Wireless Technology."

At the start of 2016, Neumann.Berlin launched its "Neumann in the Home Studio" microsite, which has now been nominated for a NAMM TEC Award in the category of "Audio Education Technology." The website was designed to provide a solid knowledge base for musicians who want to make their own recordings at home, in band rehearsals, or while on the road. It features tutorials to help beginners get started, while providing advanced users with useful background information in order to refine their recording techniques. The site, which is continually updated, also contains videos offering step-by-step solutions to typical challenges that are often faced in the home studio, such as recording vocals and acoustic guitar in untreated rooms.
