Extensive Fringe Program Encompasses Business, Information Exchange, and Practical Training

Prolight + Sound Shanghai 2016 is garnering industry attention as the show date draws close, especially with its comprehensive fringe program that aims to forge business networks, enhance information exchange, and provide technical training. This leading exhibition for the pro audio and lighting industry in Asia will be held from October 26 - 29 in its new location in halls N1 - N3 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

During the fair, a range of technology-oriented forums and seminars will be held to equip attendees with the skills and market intelligence necessary for them to navigate the dynamic pro audio and lighting landscape. The program includes:

• VPLT International Audio Training Course, October 26, 2016
Jointly organized with the German Entertainment Technology Association (VPLT), this training course will focus on technology and applications of line array systems by leading pro audio brands and industry experts. Kling & Freitag, one of the foremost speaker brands in Germany, will share new ways in line array technology and beam steering with practical demos on software and hardware. Professional sound system engineer Wu Tong will illustrate the fundamental theories of linear array speakers and its application on live performances.

• Lighting and Visual Design for TV Production Seminar, October 26, 2016
Through theories and case studies, global lighting design experts will give an in-depth analysis of the concepts and technologies used in the broadcasting and television sectors.

UHD Studio Lighting - Focused on KBS 4K Historical Drama
Cheol Lim Sang, lighting director of Korean Broadcasting System will discuss the differences between HD shooting and 4K shooting. He will also share cutting-edge approaches and concepts about these technologies and equipment, as well as their applications on KBS historical drama series.

Lighting System Integration for TV Studios
Zhang Rong, director of Media Centre of Radio and Television Shanghai, will unveil the lighting integration of virtual, interactive, and multimedia technologies behind its TV studio.

• PLSS Lab - VR Sound, October 26-29, 2016 This enclosed demo room will showcase innovative "VR sound" by combining 3-D sound technology and Electronic Soundfield Technology to deliver an immersive experience to visitors.

• Concert Sound Arena, October 26-29, 2016 This year's Concert Sound Arena will house the largest outdoor line array demonstration in Asia ever with 15 global brands, allowing audiences to have a complete overview of some of the best systems available in today's market. Participating brands include Audiocenter, Coda, CPL, dbk, FS Audio, KV2, Next, SE Audiotechnik, Tasso, TW Audio, Verity, VUE, YME, and Zsound.

• Vision X Network, October 27-28, 2016 Building on last year's success, Vision X Network will continue to establish a platform that facilitates business and technology exchange in a relaxing setting. This year, over ten prominent audio brands will introduce their innovations while industry peers can capitalize on the business opportunities on offer.

In response to the surging demand from the recording and production sector, the newly established Recording and Production Zone located in Hall N1 will include not only the latest products, but also product demonstrations in studios and technology-focused forums highlighting sound production and technology. Events include:

• Recording Technology Forum, October 26, 2016 Industry experts and professors from various institutions will provide an overview of studio recording techniques and microphone applications.

• 2016 International Sound Technology Forum for Film and TV Production, October 26-27, 2016 Co-organized with the Audio Professional Committee of the China Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (CSMPTE) and leading brands, this forum will address the technologies and applications of recording and production equipment for film and television.

• Sound @ PLSS Studio, October 26-29, 2016 Electronic music in China is gaining momentum. To meet this growing demand, the show will offer participants a chance to create their own mixes and sounds by using the latest recording products and technology from important brands in this product demonstration zone.
