Cambridge Church Installs Allen & Heath iLive Mercury AV Ltd, based in Welwyn Garden City, UK, has supplied an Allen & Heath iLive-T digital mixing system to manage the front of house and monitor sound at Cambridge Community Church. Rich Harris from Cambridge Community Church considered two other competitive products but following a demo at Mercury AV Ltd, decided to purchase iLive. The iLive system comprised an iDR-48 MixRack and iLive-T112 control surface for monitors together with an iDR-16 Mixrack and a second iLive-T112 surface at the front of house. The two MixRacks are connected via MADI, which provides a 64-channel bi-directional audio link between monitors and FOH. An iDR-32 MixRack has also been supplied for use with a laptop for smaller external events. Ian McDonald, director of Mercury AV Ltd commented: "iLive is an incredibly flexible system. Digital signal distribution is one of the key benefits of using digital mixers and with Allen & Heath's iLive-T Series; this benefit is an integral part of the system. 'In a standard system, we could have simply put the MixRacks on the stage and used CAT5 cable to link to the control surface at FOH via ACE. However, the Church needed a more complex set up, involving a digital mic split to enable the mics to be routed to both FOH and a separate monitor mixer. The network option card slots in the MixRacks enable this to be done easily and cheaply using two Allen & Heath MADI cards and some standard BNC cable."
