Meyer Sound Amplifies Educational Programming at USITT 2025

Meyer Sound is set to enhance the educational landscape for live entertainment professionals at USITT, taking place March 5-8 in Columbus, Ohio. USITT 2025 will bring together more than 5,000 attendees ranging from students to seasoned industry professionals.

Meyer Sound is planning a lineup of educational initiatives at the conference. "At Meyer Sound, we believe in the power of education to inspire the next generation of audio professionals," says Robyn Bykofsky, Meyer Sound's training and education manager. "USITT 2025 provides the perfect platform for us to share our knowledge and connect with the community on a deeper level. This year, we're excited to introduce a broad range of sessions and workshops that reflect our latest technological advancements and educational insights."

Meyer Sound's USITT 2025 programming will include:

Hands-On Sound Lab: Led by Broadway sound designer Brian Hsieh, this workshop explores Meyer Sound's latest audio solutions, including the ULTRA X20 compact point source loudspeaker and USW 112P compact subwoofer, the NADIA integrated digital audio platform, and the Galileo GALAXY network platform. Sessions will run daily in meeting room B143.

First-Timers Event: Sponsored by Meyer Sound, this orientation aims to welcome new USITT attendees and help them maximize their conference experience. The session will take place March 5 from 11am to 12pm at Union Station Ballroom ABC.

Too Much Drama on the Network, Ethernet in Live Theatre: This comprehensive full-day course, to be held March 6 from 9am to 4:30pm in classroom A121, will delve into the essentials of Ethernet networking in theater, emphasizing practical applications and integration of various digital technologies. The session will be led by Richard Bugg, Meyer Sound's digital products solutions architect.

What Does it Take to Do Sound for Broadway? A Q&A with musical theatre sound professionals: Moderated by Robyn Bykofsky, this panel will explore the collaborative dynamics of Broadway sound teams. Panelists including Brian Hsieh, Carin Ford, Heather Augustine, and Kyle Jensen will discuss collaborative efforts transform an artistic and technical vision into a live production. The panel will take place on March 7 from 2pm to 3:15pm in room D283-SND.

"Each year, USITT is an invaluable opportunity for us to showcase our advancements and foster meaningful discussions around sound technology and its applications in live entertainment," says Bykofsky. "We're particularly thrilled about the breadth of our sessions this year, which are designed to empower both newcomers and industry veterans."

Meyer Sound's presence at USITT 2025 will also include an exhibition booth (#427), where attendees can experience firsthand the company's latest audio technologies, including the ULTRA family headlined by the ULTRA-X80 versatile point source loudspeaker, the NADIA platform, and more.

Meyer Sound will be co-hosting USITT Training Ground 2025 in partnership with Cirque du Soleil. Set for May 12-14 in Las Vegas, this three-day event, open to junior and senior college and university students and recent graduates, offers training, backstage tours, and live performance experiences. The conference is aimed at audio, lighting, automation, projector maintenance, wardrobe, and stage management professionals.
